Industry Dive, a business-to-business mobile-first digital media company, has hired Randy Lilleston as editor-in-chief. He will be responsible for directing editorial strategy across Industry Dive’s portfolio of business publications. Lilleston comes to the company from NPR, where he was a supervising editor of digital news.
“Mobile presents a huge opportunity to rethink approaches to delivering news to niche markets,” said Lilleston. “I’m excited to join a team that is investing in new models.”
Lilleston is an award-winning journalist with nearly 20 years of experience in digital news, including as a senior-level editor with USA TODAY, CNN and America Online. NPR won several of the news industry’s highest honors during his tenure, including a George Foster Peabody Award and two Edgar R. Murrow awards.
"Industry Dive is committed to investing in high quality, independent journalism," said Sean Griffey, CEO of Industry Dive. "Randy brings a unique mix of newsroom expertise and managerial leadership that will continue to make Dive publications must-reads."
Lilleston was an early adopter in the digital media space, moving over to digital news in 1995. He is a longtime member of the Online News Association and has a journalism degree from the University of Central Missouri.
