Dive Gives program donates $6K to employee-selected charities

Every quarter since 2016, Industry Dive has donated to charities selected by employees. Created from employee feedback, the Dive Gives program allows anyone to suggest and present a 501(c)(3) organization for consideration, and then the company votes for who should receive donations.

I joined Industry Dive in March and even as a new team member, I had the opportunity to recommend my favorite charity - Women for Women International. Based on the success of the first quarter of 2021, I was thrilled to learn Industry Dive would generously donate $2,000 to my organization and two others recommended by my colleagues.

Here are more details on the charities Dive Gives will help:

  Women for Women International

Women for Women International (WfWI) is a nonprofit and humanitarian organization that supports marginalized women in war-torn countries by providing them with tools and resources to help them rebuild their lives. WfWI offers a year-long program (Stronger Women, Stronger Nations) to the women that they work with.

When women enroll in the Program, they learn skills like how to save, build businesses, understand their rights, improve their health, and change societal rules. The program is led by a local leader from each community. Throughout the program, women receive financial and emotional support from sponsors, as well as referrals that connect them to organizations that provide them with additional support.

Since 1993, WfWI has helped and supported more than 500,000 women.

WfWI operates in eight countries: Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

Ayuda  - recommended by Talent Acquisition Lead Aneesa Browne

Ayuda provides legal, social, and language services to help low-income immigrants transform their lives.

Immigrants receive the help of experts and professionals to navigate the justice and immigration systems and access the social safety net.

Since 1973, Ayuda has helped more than 150,000 immigrants across Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia.

I Support the Girls  - recommended by Public Relations Manager Suzanne Struglinski

I Support the Girls is a nonprofit organization located in Rockville, Maryland that collects and distributes bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products to folks experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, and other distress.

Since its founding in 2015, I Support the Girls has collected and distributed 741,000 bras, 7,200,000 menstrual products, and partnered with 1800 vetted organizations.

With these donations, Dive Gives has donated $38,000 to 38 organizations helping a variety of causes on a local, national and global scale. The entire list is here:   https://www.industrydive.com/dive-gives/

I am excited to see how we can share our success with other organizations later this year.
